Dear devotees please accept my humble obeisances! Hare Krishna!
This is an informative summary of the health status of maharaj in nonmedical
language .
Jayapataka maharaj has been recovering from the stroke,but as the time
period from the stroke is increasing the rate of recovery has definitely
slowed down. Maharaj still needs two people support for walking, though
walking is smoother than before. The main issue of trunkal instability that
has been the prime requirement for walking is steadily getting better.
After courses of pranic healing , ayurvedic massage and accupuncture his
sensation in the right hand and legs is little better. Hand functions are
smoother, he can use right hand for eating by himself though with little
difficulty. The face and the eyes have not shown any sign of major recovery
despite all the attempt with ayurvedic therapy of nasyam, shirodhara,
accupuncture and facial physiotherpy. The left part of the face still hangs
and specially the lower lid of the left eye remains quite popping out if
maharaj is exhausted. Maharaj’s articulation is little difficult because of
the above reason.
Another of chief concern for maharaj is liver. It has, as all of you must
be knowing early cirrhosis because of hepatitis c infection which he got
from the
blood transfusion after the Madrid incident. It has its own
complications in the form of bone marrow , spleen and the pressure in the
veins being affected. In consultations with Dr Simon Taylor Robinson in
London ( he is one of the world expert in hepatology, being part of world
body of research in hepatitis B and C infection , himself conducting
research in Nigeria, Bangladesh and other countries) we have started some
treatment for hepatitis c . It helps to curb down the development of various
more complications of hepatitis c and also helps to slow down the progress
of hepatitis c growth in liver. It has already some positive effect on
maharaj in the form of his platelet count rising from what always used to
be in the range of 60000 to the normal range of 1.5 lakh. But the chief
treatment for hepatitis C is yet to be started in October in consultations
with the experts of the field.
Apart from these two biggest problems for maharaj his sugars are now in the
normal range. It does not require any medication. Blood pressure is in the
range of 120/70 to 144/90 sometimes rising to the range of 150/100 , but
this is with the continuation of many medication .
Jayapataka maharaj is now continuing with his alleopathic medicines for
blood pressure and liver , continuing with the ayurvedic medicines as
advised in Coimbatore by the doctors at the Arya Vaidya Chikitsyalayam, one
of the medicines to help the hepatitis c infection to come down prescribed
by one of his American disciple, taking daily accupuncture , having daily
physiotherapy, massage, having training for walking by the use of advanced
walker, training physiotherapy under water as hydrotherapy( able to swim
about 15-20 meters by himself). This show how determined he is to recover as
soon as possible and be on the preaching field.
For the future maharaj has to continue the rigorous physiotherapy till he
gets back his normal walking ability , this may as well happen but may take
some time. The time frame is unpredictable as the body has its own pace of
recovery . This recovery has definitely slowed down now as the time span
from the time of stroke is increasing and that is the natural course of it.
This recovery is being helped by various other treatment lines that are
adopted by maharaj. He may need some form of surgery to help his left eye to
close completely; at the same sitting of the surgery also doing the face
lift surgery to help his speech better. This is because the face and the
eyes have not shown any signs of healing as compared to the hands and the
legs and difficult to predict how much they will be better and also the left
eye’s cornea is getting affected because of the eye not closing completely.
By the October of this year which marks the end of one year of his
catastrophic stroke we may have to opt for the definite form of treatment
for eradication of hepatitis c infection. All these concerns will determine
his place of treatment , that is he can stay at the place where all the
facility of therapy are available and also facilitating his preacing mood
and other managerial concerns.
