Since 21st December High Hopes Rehabilitation Center has holidays Guru
Maharaja has a break of his therapy. He has a lot of homework to do in the
meantime, walking a certain number of steps and other excercises. He has a
private therapyst visiting him, and additional chiropractic treatment still
going on. Ones a week he goes to do the therapy in the pool, and twice a
week in a gym.
Wherever Guru Maharaja is going as a patient, he’s trying in the same time
to share the message of Krishna consiousness to the people and therapists
that he meets. He always makes sure they’re getting prasadam and he
distributed the Christmas gifts to the staff of the clinic, and participated
in the gift exchange of the patients. While taking breakfast with HH
Radhanatha Swami last week, before Radhanatha Swami left LA, he was
telling him about the doctors and nurses and about their reaction on
prasadam and vegetarianism. He was going into details of what they like and
don’t like and how he’s thinking of making them more favorable to spiritual
life and vegetarianism. Radhanatha Swami made a comment: “Jayapataka Swami
is more concerned about the doctors than the doctors are concerned about
him!”
Like always, Guru Maharaja is concerned for the spiritual health of the
people he meets, and for the wellbeing of devotees who are around him.
Yesterday for the Christmas Eve devotees organized a little party in Guru
Maharaja’s appartment, and Guru Maharaja distributed gifts for everyone. We
had a nice prasadam made by united efforts of different devotees. Many
devotees gave their gifts to Guru Maharaja, and we had a gift exchange
between devotees too. After the party, Guru Maharaja expressed his attitude
to Sarva Sakti who organized an event, and said how it is very important to
make devotees happy. He was very satisfied by seing devotees happy and
united in the service to each other.
Today for the Christmas day Guru Maharaja gave a class in the temple. He was
quoting Srila Prabhupada’s conversation with the father Emanuel, how he was
glorifying the good qualities of Lord Jesus and his teachings, that
unfortunately, Christians are not following in the same manner anymore. He
was comparing the Christian tradition and the Vedic tradition that we
follow.
Last Sunday Guru Maharaja went to Laguna Beach and gave Sunday feast evening
class. For this weekend he’s invited to go to Tihuana, the place on the
border of Mexico with USA. On the way to Tihuana and back, he’s going to
visit Laguna Beach again.
