Daily Diary 16 to 18 July 2011

Daily Diary By Isvara Puri Maharaja das. 16 to 18 July 2011.
“THE DAYS CONTINUE”
Please accept our humble obeisance.
All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga.
The days keep passing and Guru Maharaj continues with His normal routine here in Mayapur.
For the past 3 days He has been waking up between 5: 30am and 6 am. For the activities during the day I have no knowledge in detail, but after waking He prepares for bath then breakfast then different kinds of activities such as meetings or exercise therapy in the Gym which is every other day.
After lunch comes the rest in the afternoon and from that time until He goes to the temple for BG class. At other times He is taking his dinner, gives darshan to devotees who come to visit. As I said in the last report for the class continues to drop around 8pm, sometimes a little later, ending the class around 9:30 pm.
At that time usually I start my shift and that way I can describe in more detail about the activities as I am more or less aware of these. As usual, after being taken to the terrace He asks to be directed to the darshan room to do exercises on the machine the “nustep.” He still has occasional visits from some devotees and a meeting with some devotees in particular. He also continues to meet with the devotees from His office. One night He met with a group of 17 North Indian devotees who were visiting Mayapur, apparently young students. The darshan lasted about half an hour.
Between 10:30 or 11 pm, GM gets taken to his room and there we arrange for him to rest. After He is in bed He asks to read the Book of Krishna. The devotee from Iran continues doing this reading service. Though tired, GM hears some chapters and when he is relaxed enough, then we stop reading so that ultimately He can rest at the appropriate time. Sunday night he asked me to read, but while they were doing the final arrangements, he fell asleep.
Last night July 18 when I started my shift a little after 10 pm and GM was practicing on his machine the “nustep” and in the room were Dr Siromani mataji along with Dr. Acintya Caitanya and the new office manager.
GM was talking with the matajis, and a funny thing happened. As Dr Siromani is pregnant, GM asked, “HOW MANY MONTHS U HAVE?”. Dr Siromani replied: “8 MONTHS Maharaja”. So GM contacting the unborn baby, he said aloud: “Hari Bol!” And then: “HARE KRISHNA! . HOW ARE YOU!?.” (How are you?). He really made everybody laugh. But we understood the fortunes of this baby, having had the opportunity of the association of a pure devotee before birth and speaking directly to him.
After that he had a meeting with 2 devotees about issues that had to do about his office. It was almost 11pm and we started to hint that it was time to go to bed. Actually the affairs of His office is one of the most important things for him to solve here in Mayapur.
Mahavaraha appeared a little frustrated at GM this afternoon that he was sleeping. As he walked to his bed Mahavaraha noticed his great difficulty in walking, so he began to suggest to GM certain options to improve His walk, like going to Malaysia or Chennai for a few weeks and practice in the Lokomat. GM argued that previously he used to practice His walk, taking a few hundreds or thousands of steps.
Finally in bed Mahavaraha placed the eye drops, “the scientist” rubbed the oils on His lotus feet and me thinking that GM because of the tiredness, he would fall asleep, the opposite happened, I suggested that we read the Book of Krishna.
As mentioned before, last night I started to read just a few minutes he fell asleep, but tonight even though I was very tired, I read an entire chapter and was still awake. I asked if He wanted to stop. He asked “how many pages is the next chapter?”. I replied that the computer does not know how many pages are in a chapter. I physically counted like 13 or 14 long paragraphs. It was actually a little long, but said if I read it he promised that after this He will not read another. When I finished he was still awake. So I said, “GM! Think you must be very tired, want to stop here?” I replied. Also I previously mentioned that to me is a great effort to read in English and was sweating from the effort. Of course on my part would read all night, because on one hand is very cleansing to do this kind of service and on the other hand, afford such mercy helps me improve my bad pronunciation of English. But above all is the physical rest.
Finally he asked me to change position, completely turned off the light and tried not to make any noise to fall asleep as soon as possible. It took like 10 or 15 minutes to end and were around 1 am. By now it is 6 am on day 19. So I will end this journal. I try to write the remaining days before His next trip.
This evening also celebrated in the temple after the class, the birthday of Madhava Kanta. Hare Krishna.
