HH Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaja’s ICU lila at Hinduja:
Last night (November 8th) we were reading Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita till 11
p.m., even though Guru Maharaja was in a deep sleep. This morning (November
9) we sneaked into the ICU, at 5 a.m., just to check out on his condition.
Guru Maharaja’s right eye (the left eye has plaster over it) was wide open.
He looked very fresh. I called his name and said a few positive and
encouraging words, whilst mildly rubbing his left hand. He grasped my hand,
firmly, and lifted it on his own. Then he opened his mouth and was trying to
speak something . . . . . . . he kept twisting his tongue. Unfortunately, a
nurse came and told me to leave. No one is allowed, in the ICU, before 6
a.m.
When I entered, at 6a.m., his eye was still wide open – Guru Maharaja was
fully awake. I asked the nurse whether I could speak to him. She nodded. I
reminded Guru Maharaja,”Today is the first day of Bhisma Pancaka Vrata; many
devotees in Mayapur Dham are observing this vrata for your speed recovery.”
He turned his head, bringing his ear more and more closer toward me. I
repeated the same message much louder. He seemed to understand. Then, I held
a photo of Shri Shri Radha Madhava, for about 2 minutes, right in front of
his eyes so that he could take darshan . . . . . . . next, Lord
Nrsinghadeva’s darshan. Upon seeing Lord Nrsinghadeva, he lifted his left
arm, again and again, trying to touch the picture. I brought the picture
closer to his hand. . . . . . . . .that same nurse again! She interrupted us
and told me that my presence was disturbing her duties.
She seems to be quite moody, right now. So I must leave the ICU. The good
news is that Guru Maharaja has been maintaining much higher levels of
external consciousness since yesterday afternoon.

Maha Varaha
