Bhisma Pancak Vrata
Dear Devotees,

Prabhupada. All glories to Srila Gurudeva.
Guru Maharaja have been observing this vrata for more than 10 years. It is
one of his favorite fasting to do. He used to only take fruits and roots
during these five days. I heard that he is desiring to do this fast this
year as well. He is still in Hyderabad taking the treatment. He was supposed
to come to Mayapur on the 1st but the doctor has extended the treatment for
some more days and therefore he is not coming to Mayapur during the Bhisma
Pancak. He would come after the treatment is over in Hyderabad.

After few days spent in Mayapur Dham, Guru Maharaja arrived in Hyderabad (in
Andhra Pradesh state of India) on 19. October. Local devotees found an
appartment for him just next to the temple, in a building with an elevator,
on a second floor. He’s staying there with his secretary Maha Varaha Prabhu
and doctor Acyutananda Prabhu, while other servants are accomodated in the
temple Guest House. Appartment is nice and clean, has a kitchen and all
needful fascilities.

Diary of GM – 12-Oct-09 and 13-Oct-09
The GBC Meetings began on the 12th. 50 + senior devotees have arrived to
attend this meeting. It is very enlivening and purifying to be in their
presence. The Mumbai management have offered wonderful facility for their
stay. They have a good team of devotees engaged in various services for the
pleasure of the senior visiting Vaisnavas on this occasion.

We are just about to release the next lot of JPS Archives DVDs and audio mp3 CDs this week, and I will send you details of this very soon. In this next release are some super wonderful lectures going right back to 1981. It is so enlivening to hear Guru Maharaja’s strong and potent preaching from this era, it is something we all can treasure, so look out for the newsletter about this next week
Today, however I am writing with a special request from the Archives…
We are in urgent need of a piece of equipment for the JPS Archives work to go on nicely.
We were given a second hand Mini-DV player in May to capture the thousands of MiniDV video tapes of Guru Maharaja that we have. This machine had problems from the beginning, and we have sent it to repairs to Kolkata 3 times, but still it is not working after trying for 6 months to repair it.
As one of our prime duties in the Archives is to protect these thousands of video tapes of Guru Maharaja taken over the years, we cannot wait any longer, but we will purchase a new Handycam MiniDV recorder, which we can use to capture these tapes immediately.
The cost of this camera is Rs. 20,000 or US $430.
Therefore we are requesting you today to please help us to purchase this essential equipment for the Archives to do its important work of capturing all of Guru Maharaja’s media vani onto digital media for our future.
These lectures are absolute gems for all disciples, some of them go back more than 20 years, and they are full with transcendental nectar and important instructions for us all.

Guru Maharaja came to the temple and joined the morning Damodar arotik.
After having darshan he went to his room to have breakfast. I heard he met
with some devotees giving darshan. Devotees from Nava Mumbai headed by Ram
Giridhari prabhu had come to meet Guru Maharaja. Then he had face therapy.
