2nd,3rd-Dec-08, from Maha Varaha prabhu

2nd & 3rd December 2008 Night Shift 6pm – 6am
——————————

—————-

This evening HG Iksvaku Prabhu followed me to the hospital since today is
the last day for him to be in Mumbai. We reached the hospital exactly at
7pm. When we went into the ICCU Guru Maharaja was sitting on the brown sofa
next to the window. After few minutes Iksvaku Prabhu started to read some
get well letters to Guru Maharaja as I was preparing the dinner. At 8.30pm
we fed dinner.

After the dinner Guru Maharaja was shifted over to his bed. Iksvaku Prabhu
continued to read the letters. Guru Maharaja was quite alert and was
listening to his reading. At 10.30pm Dr.Sagar and myself went in to attend
Guru Maharaja. Guru Maharaja said he wants to sleep lying down on his left
hand side. For the last 40 days he has been sleeping facing the ceiling. We
turned him to his left facing the window and kept two pillows at the back to
support him. The Hinduja Hospital doctors also recommended Guru Maharaja to
sleep on his left handside.

Guru Maharaja is also been complaining about his sleep for the last few
days. He said he cannot sleep well because of the lights. Generally the
nurses switch off only the lights right above his head when he goes to
sleep. They keep the other lights on especialy the one right above his feet
where they sit and update his records. So he told us to bring an eye mask
which he always gets as a souvenirs from different airlines. Today I had
brought one thick blue British Airways eye mask. I asked the nurse if this
is allowed to wear on his eyes. She rejected. She said, “I will put a cotton
paddings on his eyes. So you do not worry.” I told Guru Maharaja about her
reply. He remained silent for few minutes.

At 6am in the morning I went in again to attend Guru Maharaja. Guru Maharaja
was awake and looked fresh. I applied tilak on his forehead and then started
the morning program. I held the Pancatattva picture in front of him and sang
the samsara dava prayers. He kept gazing at Their Lordship till the end of
the song. He was also gazing at Lord Nrshimadeva till the end of prayers.
When I chanted, “Sri Nrshimadev Bhagavan ki jai! Sri Prahalad Maharaj ki
Jai! He asked, “Where is Prahalad Maharaja in the picture?” I then quickly
grabbed another picture of Lord Nrshimadeva with Prahalad Maharaj and held
it in front of him.

After two minutes Guru Maharaja asked me, “Do I have any tickets left
unused?” I said, “Guru Maharaja you still have some tickets but do not worry
we are taking care of them. I have cancelled all the existing bookings. We
will get a refund for all the expired ones.”

I then continued, “Guru Maharaja, devotees all over the world are praying
for your speed recovery. Soon you will be able to travel and preach.” After
few seconds, Guru Maharaja said, “Tell them to pray. I want to gain
strength. Walk soon.” Actually Guru Maharaja told the same thing last night
to Iksvaku Prabhu. So please keep praying intensely until Guru Maharaja
fully recovers.

1-Dec-08, from Maha Varaha prabhu

1st Dec 2008 afternoon shift 12noon – 6pm
——————————

————

Since the last two days the noon shift has been brought forward from 2pm to
12noon and goes on till 6pm because Guru Maharaja wanted to have the lunch
by 1pm. Today I was on the noon shift and brought lunch with me for Guru
Maharaja.

When I went into the ICCU Guru Maharaja was sitting on the brown sofa.
Dr.Syamalal Prabhu from the Bhaktivedanta Hospital was explaining to Guru
Maharaja the reasons why visitors will not be allowed for the next few days.
He said Guru Maharaja’s immune system is very low and he is easily prone for
infections. Therefore visitors will be restricted from now on. He said it is
important for Guru Maharaja to know the reasons. He also briefed Guru
Maharaja for all the questions Guru Maharaja put forward to him regarding
his health like how to strengthen the trunk muscles and legs so he can walk
soon.

At 2pm we fed lunch for Guru Maharaja. After lunch HH Radhanath Maharaj and
HG Dayaram Prabhu came to visit Guru Maharaja. Two minutes after going
inside the ICCU the nurses told them to wait outside because they wanted to
shift Guru Maharaja over to his bed.

After 15 minutes they went in again. When HH Radhanath Maharaja came out of
the ICCU, he exclaimed, “Wonderful! Wonderful! I was talking to Maharaja
about the lecture he gave in Chowpatty Temple two days before he was
admitted in the hospital. As I was explaining to him, he filled up the
details very well. He remembers very well.”

All glories to our Guru Maharaja!

A message from Guru Maharaja

Dear Devotees,

Hare Krsna. Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila
Prabhupada. All glories to Srila Gurudeva.

One of the duties of the JPS care givers is to read letters written to Guru
Maharaja. Apart from the other devotional and rehabilitation program, Guru
Maharaja also likes to listen to the devotees letters. Whatever letters we
receive, we print them and send it for reading.

Today while Iksvaku prabhu was reading letters, Guru Maharaja stopped him
and said he wants a message to be posted on the web! His message is as
follows:

“I want to walk. I am not strong. Please pray for me to become strong so I
can walk in 10 days.”

Although medically they say it might take a longer period of time, by Guru
Maharaja’s message we can understand his desire to walk soon. Let us keep
continuosly praying to Krsna. It seems that the Lord is enjoying the
devotees intense prayers to Him.

Your humble servant,

Ratnavali dd

21-Nov-08, from Isvara Puri prabhu

Guru Maharaja’s Nectar Bits from Isvara Puri prabhu, Nov 21st, 2008

Today I had the good fortune to hear Guru Maharaja speak for the first time
in the Hindhuja hospital. I was doing my security services at the entrance
in the ground floor outside the lobby. After waiting patiently outside the
hospital for 5 hours, Dharesh prabhu asked me to come up to the floor where
Guru Maharaja was. When I went to the ICCU Guru Maharaja was resting. I just
took a brief darshan and came out of the ICCU.

When Guru Maharaja woke up after a while, Dr. Shiromani Mataji went to see
him. Later she came out and said Guru Maharaja is trying to say something.

So I went inside and when Guru Maharaja saw me, he cried out… “GAURANGAAA”
(of course to the best of his capability). Then, the nurse told me that I
could go near him. When I went nearby him, he told me, “HARE KRISHNA”. It
took Guru Maharaja a lot of effort, but I saw it as a child begin to say his
first words.

I began to massage his lotus feet and to do some physiotherapy exercises
that a devotee had taught us. Dharesh prabhu came in to check and asked Guru
Maharaja if I was doing it properly. Guru Maharaja lifted up his right hand
and showed his thumb up, confirming it was good. I felt happy to please Guru
Maharaja.

A Word of Caution

A word of caution from Dr Madhavananda das, Director of Bhaktivedanta
Hospital, Mumbai

Maharaj is still in the ICU. Even though he’s not critical, infection may
set in and that will delay his recovery and create some complications due to
the infection. That should be borne in mind.

Urgent request reg Jayapataka Maharaja’s health

From: Bhakti Purushottama Maharaja and Braja Hari Prabhu

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

As you all know from the Doctor’s report that HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja
got an infection yesterday. His moving out of the ICCU to the special ward
is delayed because of this. The doctors are annoyed with the devotees for
allowing many visitors. And hence, we are writing this urgent message.

NO VISITORS will be allowed even the SENIOR DEVOTEES OR THE LEADERS for a
week, starting from tomorrow, the 2nd until the 10th of December. Jayapataka
Maharaja wants to come out of the ICCU soon so we need everyone’s
cooperation.

Instead of your coming you can write get well letters or send get well cards
to Ratnavali Mataji at rdd@pamho.net and the letters will be read to
Maharaja. Also any positive temple reports could be sent for his pleasure.

Your servants,

Bhakti Purushottama Swami and Braja Hari Das

30-Nov-08, Night report

HH Jayapataka Maharaj’s status report by Dr Madhavananda das, Director of
Bhaktivedanta Hospital, Mumbai

Maharaj is continuing to show steady improvement. Yesterday he was made to
sit on the edge of the bed with legs hanging down and support at the back.
He’s also made to sit on a chair(with support) daily for 4 to 5 hours during
which he does hand and leg exercises. He is being fed soft solids orally.

Maharaja had fever this morning. The doctors have sent his blood and urine
cultures to find the source of infection and have started him on
antibiotics. By evening his fever had settled.

Please continue your prayers.
