“Ratha Yatra in Kolkata: 3 NIGHTS Pandal Programme”
Please accept our humble obeisances.
All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga.
I’ll make a summary of the 4th, 5th and 6th of July, beginning with the 6th and ending with the 4th as the main activity of GM are in the evenings of these three days, when He was to go to the pandal to take Darshan of Their Lordships Jagannath, Baladeva and Subadra then be directed to another place in the pandal to give a class.
“July 6th”
This day I did not attend the pandal programme with Guru Maharaj . According to comments I heard that Guru Maharaj came out of the apartment at about 6:45 pm. Guru Maharaj took darshan of the Deities and gave class which took about an hour and we reached the appartment at 11pm. With my colleague Siromani Prabhu started our night shift.
I got on the elevator with Guru Maharaj and experienced a miracle . When he reached the room, I asked if He wanted to go on His machine the “nustep.” A Bengali devotee will help assist us, but he immediately indicated that he did not want any help , so Guru Maharaj entered his room without any mishap.
There he did the last homework, but anyway it was already midnight when he could “barely” get into his bed because of physical exhaustion. Also this day for the first time since his arrival in Kolkata had been taken to the Gym, assisted by the servants of the afternoon shift and the physiotherapist, before their long journey.
“July 5th”
Arrived quite late to the agenda of the pandal programme – at 8:45 pm. Arriving there the first thing is to take darshan of the Deities. So the different ceremonies offer reciprocity among colleagues and his devotee, took the class to begin with at a little past 9:30 pm. Once at the site of the class, the now famous devotee of the trumpet, along with other Western devotee, disciple of Prabhupada speaks perfect Bengali, was running an enthusiastic bhajan, along with some local devotees and another pair of devotees that played a guitar. Upon arrival of Guru Maharaj the devotee playing the trumpet led the kirtan and he became more enthusiastic on seeing Guru Maharaj so he put more effort in his bhajan. GM finally was put in the asana for the class to commence.
Public assistance was similar to the previous day. When the class ended, the temple authorities of Kolkata, who are young bramacaris drove up to take darshan of GM and obtain blessings. Mahavaraha actually told me that devotees involved in the class were members of Bhakti Vriksa groups. The were bramacaris one of which was the leader, practically made this amount of devotees who came expecting a class from Guru Maharaj. I also commented that if GM came earlier, the audience would be much greater. The truth was that when GM came, there were hardly many people around the complex of the pandal and most of the sites or stores it had already been closed.
Well, tonight GM was to return to his routine, the first thing he said was where is his machine the “nustep.” By this, I expected it would take about 300 or 400 pedaling, but instead he said he would give me that 1080, at first I thought he was kidding, but when I approached Daresha Prabhu he confirm the number that GM told him of their intention.
Daresha did not believe him, so I told that GM was serious.
Finally, we reported that the motive was to finish their rounds. So ultimately it was another “ordinary” night in which GM would go to bed after midnight. Mahavaraha puts the gel and tape over his left eye.
“July 4th”
The day July 4 was very similar. So I think I’ll skip the details of the report to make this fairly short. As I heard the next 3 days will be a little more intense as they have in place certain programs in other parts of the city during the hours of the morning and evening, along with the pandal at night. Do not know if I will have the opportunity to tell some of these events, because of my schedule, but I’ll try to do the best I can on my part. I also heard that the 9th is a return to Mayapur. Well I leave this journal here. Please take care in their service. Hare Krishna.
